Patch Notes (v2.6.6.10) // Customizable Controls & Align the Stars-Revision
The Ruins of Calaworm » Devlog
ATTENTION!
SAVE FILES FROM PREVIOUS VERSIONS ARE NO LONGER VALID
BUGFIXES
- Maximum size of the Minigame StarMap increased at a way too high rate.
- Unwanted behavior with the "Gravitational Pull"-mechanic: in the Minigame, in rare occasions you could trap yourself by turning a tile and connecting it to a Star, which already had a restored Route going out, rendering the puzzle unsolvable. If this should happen now, you'll get teleported back to the Planet instead (with an according sound effect).
- When quitting out of the game while the Minigame-Tutorial wasn't completed, logging back in would sometimes present you with a duplicate Planet (and a high chance to crash the game, due to conflicting *pointers).
- When skipping Tutorial Minigame in the first Region, then interacting with another Shrine of same Covenant, then going back to first Shrine, would sometimes lock in a wrong size for the next puzzle to be created.
- Backpack examinations at Fireplaces now skip Blessed Whip/Plague-Mask thematic texts (can only appear when examining primary Equipment).
- On the Automap, unexplored Secret Passages will no longer show up as Obstacles.
- Tombstones with associated Inscriptions wouldn't show up on the Automap.
- When browsing Links in the Automap, flashing Link-Icon can no longer appear buried under the Player-Icon.
- In the first Region, around the Wicca Grove area, way too many Secret Passages were created. There's still a chance, that more than one entry to the Grove will be created, though.
- Wisteria Widdershin's battle theme played at too low volume.
- Retrieving Keys from Doors, which you've kicked open, wouldn't display success message.
TWEAKS / BALANCING
- On 00_overworld.cal, removed a Secret Door, relocated an Arcane Barrier, and added a hidden Barrier Switch to a small area, where one could end up via random teleportation, and find themselves trapped (depending on Barrier-state).
- On 27_dungeon.cal, added a Barrier Switch to prevent players from trapping themselves.
- Low Odds for breaking down Doors now only apply for final Region (Tutorial has been adjusted to reflect the change).
CONTENT AND MECHANICS
- New behavior for Mi-Go: after each attack they make a circle step around you (which direction they prefer is randomly decided each time they wake up).
- Added several new random Hints, and revised wording for existing ones.
POLISH AND QUALITY OF LIFE-IMPROVEMENTS
- Keyboard scheme may now be fully customized: if on startup "customControls.ini"-File does not exist, it will be created with default control scheme entries. You are free to edit the keys (.ini-File lists all available key codes). Upper/lower case does not matter, just keep order of entries; also Return/ESC-Key are reserved (may not be applied to an action). Ingame, options may also be selected via Arrow Keys. Mind that this is a Demo-exclusive Hotfix, final release will provide you with a convenient menu option.
- Improved UI for Minigame: rules about Gravitational Pull were a bit obscure, therefore visual indicator has been added, highlighting Tiles you can travel to, and show which are restricted.
- When first entering a Region, where Exploration Level does not match Region Level, Out of League-Warning now always appears.
- Added a Tutorial explaining Lurker Mode for Enemies (triggered by leaving first Region).
- The light color marking Secret Doors on the default Overworld Tileset was easy too miss, therefore changed to flesh color. Should improve visibility, while at the same time staying subtle enough to not break immersion.
- Rephrased/Rearranged several strings to be more clear/appear more readable.
